Brown Dog Deli

40 Broad Street, Charleston, SC 29401 • (843) 853-8081

AN OVERVIEW

It's clear that the owners and chefs at Brown Dog Deli care about their new Broad Street establishment. They designed the deli menu from the ground up and each time I've been in the restaurant, one or both of them have been behind the counter helping customers and whipping up their culinary creations.

AN OVERVIEW

Bocci's is a fantastic Italian restaurant located just south of the historic open air market in downtown Charleston. The menu includes homebaked Italian bread, soup, salad, a variety of pastas, which are made onsite, as well as fish and meat entrees. The wait staff is friendly and pleasant do receive service from. Lunch and dinner are served daily, and the restaurant is a nice option for familys, friends, or couples.

Hank's Seafood

10 Hayne Street, Charleston, SC 29401 • (843) 723-FISH (3474)

AN OVERVIEW

When people ask for a recommendation on a nice sit down dinner at a seafood restaurant in town, Hank's is the go-to place to send them. The tastefully appointed dining room will hint at the deliciously prepared food that is about to grace their palette. The folks at Hank's hit seafood selections out of the park, but don't worry if seafood is not your favorite. They also prepare a delightful pepper crusted beef tenderloin and a scrumptious double boneless buttermilk fried chicken breast.

The Wreck

106 Haddrell Street, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 • (843) 884-0052

AN OVERVIEW

You won't find fine china at The Wreck (in fact you might have a hard time finding The Wreck itself at all). Most people don't eat there for the ambiance or decor. They do go for the food. This is definitely a local spot, and not the best option if you want to feel "fancy". However, if you want a local favorite for fresh, down-home seafood, this is the ticket.

Jestine's Kitchen is my favorite restaurant downtown. Period. It's not the fanciest. It's not the most expensive. It's chef doesn't have the best pedigree in Charleston. But none of that matters to me. It's been my favorite since the first time I ate there. It is Lowcountry cooking at it's finest. You couldn't eat there every night...your arteries would eventually revolt. But when you want to treat yourself, it is the place to be. The down-home southern atmosphere is great. The service is outstanding. The ham steak is awesome. Fried chicken, awesome. Squash casserole (a daily veggie specialty), awesome. Coca Cola cake, awesome. You get the picture. The only draw-back is that there's a bit of a wait for a table most days, but that's to be expected considering its reputation. The restaurant doesn't take names and put you on a list with a wait time as many restaurants do. If a table is not available, you simply stand in line until one opens up. So if you arrive and there's a line, get in it. The wait can sometimes be avoided by going early or late for meal times. Even if you end up waiting a bit for a table, the meal will be worth it. Don't miss this place.

Client Testimonials

  • A Charleston resident suggested a Traveling Ink concierge might be able to help me. It didn’t take long for me to realize that this was one of the best pieces of advice I could have received. My friends thought I was an organizational wizard even though I kept telling them it was Traveling Ink, not me.

  • We so enjoyed our time in Charleston. Thank you for all your insight! I am recommending your services to everyone I know who is traveling to Charleston!

  • Traveling Ink planned the three full days we would have in Charleston, how we would get from one place to another, places to eat, and what the costs would be. To add to the challenge, we had to change the day of one of the main attractions because rain had been predicted. They handled all the changes with out missing a step.

    ~ Harriett H.
  • These Charleston pros do a phenomenal job in any setting. Audra was our point person and is a pleasure to work with. She is laid back and can work with any request.
