Robert Mills, America's first native-born architect most famous for designing the Washington Monument, called Charleston home. The streets of downtown Charleston resemble an architectural museum, full of colonial and antebellum mansions. Guests enjoying this tour will learn about the "Charleston single house" and the construction techniques used to build these homes. Charleston's Slave History • 2 Hour Tour • $22 per guest

An eye-opening look at one of the most significant chapters of American history. Charleston was the largest slave port in the American colonies, accounting for about 40% of the African Americans coming across the Atlantic. This two hour tour will cover aspects of the daily life of a slave, the challenges overcome by enslaved Africans, and the influence of the vibrant Gullah culture in the lowcountry lifestyle. ***This tour also includes a visit to the Slave Mart Museum, the site of Charleston's largest slave auction house OR the Old Exchange Building, a National Landmark, where the Constitution was ratified and George Washington danced.
