Outdoor Activities

When it comes to kayak tour experience in the Charleston area, Coastal Expeditions is the name to know. The family-owned business has been providing guests with stellar adventures since 1992, and has a variety of different tours and locations for patrons to take advantage of. The tour guides are dedicated naturalists who are eager to share the natural beauty and wildlife of the rivers, salt marshes, and blackwater in the Lowcountry for paddlers at most any level.

Charleston Surf Lessons Overview

Beautiful beaches and manageable waves make Charleston an excellent place to learn to surf. Charleston Surf Lessons' experienced instructors give guests the knowledge and practical tips needed to ride waves the first time out.

Guests will enjoy an hour long Eco Tour of Shem Creek via Stand Up Paddle board. The guide will give instruction to any newcomers to the sport and provide all the necessary equipment including board, paddle, and PFD. Guests will cruise through the tranquil water while learning about the history and ecosystem of Shem Creek. Smaller watercraft such as SUPs are often so quiet that indigenous mammals and birds in the area will stay where they are unaffected by visitors. Guests often see dolphins, manatees, pelicans, and other birds on the tour.

Tidalwave Watersport's Yamaha Waverunners offer guests a thrilling experience on the water. Patrons can rent the watercraft an hour at a time or book a 90 minute Waverunner Safari where a guide introduces riders to the barrier islands and various wildlife in the area.

Banana Boat rides are a great way for a family or group of friends to cool off and enjoy the water. The rides last approximately 30 minutes and can accomodate up to 6 paasengers per run. This is a unique attraction and just plain fun. Not everyone can say they've had the thrill of skimming across the water on a giant high-speed banana!

Soar above the water with the help of Tidalwave Watersport's experienced parasailing captains. Guests will enjoy an eight to ten minute flight at their choice of heights. Visitors will relish spectacular views and the peaceful sensation of floating above the water.

A Charlestonian's choice of beach may be as unique as they are. Some folks think of week long vacations at their family's beach rental on Kiawah or Seabrook, while some can't imagine a beach trip without an evening at Poe's Tavern on Sullivan's after. The folks on IOP stay in the sun all day, head back to their homes for an evening with friends, and sigh when the clock hits 11:00 p.m., because they know it's quiet time on the island. Then there are the laid back Folly residents, who don't know there are any beaches in existance except Folly (or at least wouldn't admit to it).

Guests shouldn't expect to stay dry when they head out on the water with Tidalwave Watersports. The staff will provide all the necessary gear and instruction for folks to enjoy a fun time tubing, waterskiing, or wakeboarding.
