Audra Gibson

Audra Gibson

Audra Gibson is a Christian, photographer, surfer, and a lover of teriyaki steak bites. She enjoys live music, doesn't like to be cold, and she's a bit of a cheese snob. Traveling Ink was her little brain child and she's very happy that you're here. She'd be oh so happy to recommend her favorite tours and attractions in town, help you with a team building event, or organize a day (or week) of fun for you and your group.

What is Traveling Ink?

Traveling Ink is a website dedicated to the great city of Charleston, SC, the surrounding area, and those who love to travel. It is part travel writing venture and part online concierge service. Charleston visitors can find travel recommendations on the site for tours, restaurants, events, and transportation. Charleston locals can use the site as a resource to enjoy their city more or take a trip out of town. When it comes to travel, it is not just about the amazing places we explore, the summits we may climb, or the things we may learn along the way, but who we share those adventures with.

What makes your site different from other travel sites?

Quite a few travel sites (and sometimes concierges) recommend services or attractions they've never experienced themselves. In some cases, they are just sending people there because the venue is paying them to do so. I hand pick our recommended restaurants and attractions because I think they are great establishments or offer something specifically unique. And each attraction, venue, or restaurant featured on the site is a place I myself, a close friend, or associate has visited. If I am recommending a kayak company to Traveling Ink visitors, I want to have sat in their kayak and experienced their tour first-hand before I send a guest there.

Why aren't there more restaurants and attractions on your site?

The concept here at Traveling Ink is to give you a handful of reccommendations (or sometimes one specific reccommendation) on different businesses as a opposed to a list of every restaurant and attraction in the Lowcountry. If you called a friend in town to ask their favorite seafood restaurant, they'd typically give you one to three names of places (not twenty). The same idea applies here.

Will you be adding more recommendations to your site?

Yes. I want to properly research each of the restaurants and attractions the site recommends to people, and that can take a good bit of time. Some recommendations for attractions simply haven't been made yet because there hasn't been time to visit the business or take the tour. We're working on it. Charleston has a ton of great options. I just haven't had time to visit them all yet. It's a good "problem" to have.

Can businesses or individuals pay to advertise on your site?

Typically, no. The exception is businesses we have already selected to be Traveling Ink affiliates. We want to build a reputation of trust with the content we have on the site. Therefore, businesses approaching us to advertise would have to be approved as affiliate clients prior to being able to be featured in any capacity on the site, including advertising.

I've noticed you don't seem to have negative reviews on your site. Why not?

I don't have negative reviews posted because I have hand selected the restaurants, attractions, and businesses that appear on the site. Because of this, I already know the level of quality of these businesses is high. If I research a new attraction or restaurant for the site that I don't think is the quality level I'd like to promote (or isn't a fit for my clients), I simply don't feature them on the site.

I am looking for an attraction or service you don't have posted on your site. Can you help me?

Most likely, yes. There are certain businesses and individuals that don't necessarily fit into one of our site categories (or don't want quite as much exposure as being featured on the site would produce), but would still be a fine fit for your needs. Shoot us a message on our contact form and we'll see what we can do for you. There is one exception. We won't recommend any service that is in poor taste.

I own a restaurant or attraction (or know someone who does) that would be a great fit for Traveling Ink. How can businesses get featured on your site?

If you know of a business that would be a great addition to our community, I'd love to hear about them. Please have them submit their contact info and business information via the contact form, and I'll arrange to come check out the venue.

Client Testimonials

  • A Charleston resident suggested a Traveling Ink concierge might be able to help me. It didn’t take long for me to realize that this was one of the best pieces of advice I could have received. My friends thought I was an organizational wizard even though I kept telling them it was Traveling Ink, not me.

    ~ Nicky H.
  • We so enjoyed our time in Charleston. Thank you for all your insight! I am recommending your services to everyone I know who is traveling to Charleston!

    ~Kathryn C.
  • Traveling Ink planned the three full days we would have in Charleston, how we would get from one place to another, places to eat, and what the costs would be. To add to the challenge, we had to change the day of one of the main attractions because rain had been predicted. They handled all the changes with out missing a step.

    ~ Harriett H.
  • These Charleston pros do a phenomenal job in any setting. Audra was our point person and is a pleasure to work with. She is laid back and can work with any request.
